Panasonic TV remote not working? Fix it or use your iPhone
Panasonic's smart platform is My Home Screen, running on sets still widely known by the Viera name. It's one of the more phone-friendly platforms out there, with one important exception.
Quick fixes
- Batteries — and check they're seated, Panasonic's battery compartments have shallow contacts.
- Unplug the TV at the wall for 60 seconds.
- If it's a Bluetooth voice remote, re-pair it from Settings → Bluetooth Setup on the TV, or hold Return and Home together near the set.
- For an IR remote, the receiver is behind the lower bezel — a soundbar in front of it is a common and invisible cause.
Where the power button is
On most Viera sets the physical controls sit underneath the panel at the bottom right as you face the screen, or on the back near the lower edge on wall-friendly models. It's usually a small joystick: press to switch on, hold to switch off.
No pairing — unless yours is a newer model
Panasonic televisions accept remote commands over the network on port 55000, and on the great majority of sets there is no pairing step whatsoever. A phone on the same Wi-Fi finds the TV and starts controlling it.
Sets from roughly 2018 onward introduced an encrypted pairing scheme. LazyBinger detects those and says so, instead of leaving you staring at a connection that never completes — which is what most remote apps do with them.
